The mat can also be used as a backing for creating fish prints (gyotaku) of sea bream and other fish. When a fish is placed on it, the mat will slightly compress, allowing the dorsal and tail fins to be suspended, making it easier to take a fish print. It can also be used as a sponge liner for cooler boxes.
